Smithfield councilman Archambault to run for AG

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Defense lawyer, two-term Smithfield Councilman and former Jamestown police officer Stephen R. Archambault has become the first anounced candidate for attorney general in 2010.In a statement released Wednesday morning, Democrat Archambault, 43, said: "I am running for Attorney General because Rhode Islanders need someone in the state's top law enforcement job who is on their side. The Attorney General's office is charged with advocating for and representing the people of our state, and that is exactly what I intend to do."

Per Rhode Island State Law, individuals and PACs registered in the state of Rhode Island may contribute a maximum of $1,000 per calendar year. Business and corporate checks are prohibited. Contributions to Friends of Stephen R Archambault are not tax-deductible. State law requires us to use our best efforts to collect and report and the name, residence, employer and address of employer for individuals whose contributions exceed $100 per calendar year. Contributions over $25 cash per year from a single source are prohibited<
